Wealth Building Bricks – Session #7

March 18, 2013

The Bad News:

As many of you know Mrs. Brick By Brick and I were set to be induced on Wednesday, March 13th. However the hospital literally called us Tuesday evening March 12th (12 hours before start time) to inform us that they were slammed with emergency C-sections and could not take “elective surgeries” (Since we decided to induce).

They rescheduled us for the following morning at 0715, but called at 0630 right as we were walking out the door and informed us that they were at full capacity and could not take on our “elective surgery.”

Needless to say it was pretty damn frustrating. I understood that care for patients comes first I really did and I also understood there was something in the air last week that apparently sent a lot of women into delivery. Who knows, maybe this was the wave of the 50 Shades of Grey babies. But as a professional organization they should have plans in place for situations like this.

If you happened to read this far and are familiar with the medical industry/hierarchy, who can I write a letter to and call voicing my concerns?

The Good News!

Our son was born (naturally) on Friday March 15, 2013! Him and Mrs Brick by Brick are both very healthy. In fact Mrs. Brick By Brick must have set a world record, she only pushed 3 times!!! The nurse literally had to yell at the doctor to look up because he had looked away for a brief moment to grab some supplies. It was crazy! We are all home now trying to get a rhythm/routine going and of course I’m trying to see how soon I can be 100% operational with this blog again. =)

I apologize for the short list of link love. I promise there will be more to come next week!

Congratulations to you and the lucky lady! Sounds like once things got started your wife didn’t feel like being there for long! Best wishes, and good luck in getting back into a routine!

  2. AverageJoe Says:

That is absolutely fantastic. Congrats on the new investor in the family. He’ll be showing up dad in no time, I’m sure! So, my question: if those were a wave of 50 Shades of Grey babies, does that mean your son is, too? ha!

  3. John S @ Frugal Rules Says:

Wow, that’s crazy! More importantly, glad to hear that Mom & baby BBB are both doing well. The delivery sounds like our last one as my wife only pushed four times. The midwife barely got into our room in time to deliver him. Have fun with the new little one!

  4. Kris Says:

Congrats on the new addition to the family! That kid has no idea that he’s a future investor in the making!

  5. JC @ Passive-Income-Pursuit Says:

I’m sure that’s pretty frustrating, but congrats on the little one!

  6. Martin Says:

Nice. Congrats to the new member of the family. Now start making those progress pictures, let’s say one picture a year and then put them together.

Congratulations! It was better that she did not need to be induced. I am sure if it was medically necessary, it would have been done.

Congrats Marvin!! That must have been a nerve-wracking several days, but glad things turned out well in the end. It amazes me what women’s bodies can do. I think I’ll be freaked out if I ever have to give birth though.

    • Marvin Says:

Nerve wracking for sure, Mrs. BBB was beside herself after being jerked around back and forth. But yes things did work out for the best. Thank you!

  13. Liquid Says:

Major congrats! :D Glad both baby and mommy are fine. Don’t newborns just have the tinniest little hands lol. So cute (。◕ ‿ ◕。)
