As some of you may know I try very hard to keep this blog free of political debates or opinions. However, it is becoming increasingly hard to do so. Therefore without voicing my opinion I thought I would try another avenue of approach and share with you something my family and I are currently engaged in.
While the typical in state college degree will run you about $24,000 in Virginia I have a way for you to obtain a degree in Economics for ABSOLUTELY FREE and this is no sales gimmick! I am 100% sincere with this offer and I get absolutely no compensation what so ever for recommending it to you.
But first let me zoom out for a moment in order to identify the problem I have diagnosed. Our public school system in America teaches our children ABSOLUTELY nothing about:
- Personal Finances
- Financial History
We don’t have the option of learning these things until you attend a university and guess what percentage of graduating highschool seniors attend college? 68.3% That may seem like a lot to you but think about this, out of that 68.3% what percentage will actually major in business or economics?? Therefore, it is fairly safe to say that the majority of Americans know very little about basic finance and economics. I mean seriously, it breaks my heart to see ambitious young men and women take on loads of debt (that they do not fully understand until much later in life) in order to finance college. Or millions of families taking on mortgages that they are unable to afford.
I believe if we want any fighting chance of becoming a great nation once again we need to start educating our children at a young age about money.
Now to the good stuff!!!!
How can you get a FREE degree in economics??? By simply enrolling at the Ludwig Von Mises Institute!
The Ludwig von Mises Institute was founded in 1982 as the research and educational center of classical liberalism, libertarian political theory, and the Austrian School of economics. It serves as the world’s leading provider of educational materials, conferences, media, and literature in support of the tradition of thought represented by Ludwig von Mises and the school of thought he enlivened and carried forward during the 20th century, which has now blossomed into a massive international movement of students, professors, professionals, and people in all walks of life. It seeks a radical shift in the intellectual climate as the foundation for a renewal of the free and prosperous commonwealth.
Every night during the week my wife and I watch a lecture then discuss it. I know it seems dry and boring but it is fundamental in our education and how we plan to raise our children. It doesn’t take up our entire night, roughly 45 minutes, an hour at the absolute most! Then we go on and watch our redbox movie or favorite tv sitcom.
I have compiled a short introductory list for you titled “Economics For Highschool Students.” Hopefully they will catch your attention and tempt you to further your education for FREE!
- Applying Economics to American History
- The Economics of Recycling
- Technology and Social Change
- Money, Banking and the Current Mess
- The Core of What Economics Teaches
Please let me know your thoughts as you watch these videos. I will admit full heartedly that these lectures are a little dry but the financial principles they talk on are absolutely oustanding!
